Amputation Prevention Checklist

 

Did you know that the feet often provide the first sign of more serious health issues, such as diabetes?  That’s why it’s important to have your primary care physician or family doctor check your feet every time you go in for a checkup.

 

People with diabetes need to pay special attention to their feet and

watch carefully for any signs of complications.  Regular foot examinations can help reduce the risk of amputation in people with diabetes by 45 percent to 85 percent.
