Laser Therapy

DON'T LIVE WITH THE TOENAIL FUNGUS

I have been practicing podiatry for more than 20 years. One of the most common problems I see is the fungus infections of the feet. The fungus infection of the skin is not so difficult to cure, but the TOE NAIL fungus has been almost impossible to cure. The medicines have dangerous side effects and are only successful about half the time. Many times people have had to have their toenails removed permanently.

Laser Therapy: FAQs

1. How does the laser kill the fungus?

The laser shines a specific wave length light through the nail that raises the temperature to a level that kills the fungus.  The specific laser light used in this treatment and the temperature does not affects the good cells.

2. Will I feel any pain?

You may feel some warmth during the treatment, otherwise there is no pain associated with the laser treatment.

3. How much time does it take for the treatment?

It takes about 15 minutes to prepare the toenails for the treatment and then about 15 minutes for the laser treatment

4. Does the laser really work?

Clinical studies have shown 88% success with 1 treatment and 96% success after 2 treatments. The after treatment care and precautions can assure 100% success.

5. Will my nails look good after the treatment?

The Laser treatment only destroys the fungus.  It does not affect the growth pattern of the nail. As the new nail grows it pushes the bad off.  Normally toenails take 9 to 12 months to fully grow out.  Healthy new growth should be visible in 2-3 months.

6. What are the side effects of the laser treatment?

The Cool Breeze laser, used in our clinic, is fully safe.  The clinical studies have shown no adverse reactions, injuries, disabilities or any other side effects, unlike some other. On the other hand, most medication available for treatment of nail fungus come with various side effects, some even very serious.

7. Are there any medicine to take as part of the treatment?

No. No oral medicines are needed.

8. Do I have to be off of my feet after treatment?

NO. You are able to walk just as well as you did before treatment. The treatment does cause any disability.

9. Is the laser treatment covered by insurance?

Your initial consultation and lab tests are covered by insurance. At present the Insurance companies do not pay for the laser treatment.

If you have a Health Savings Account, Medical IRA or a Medical Flex Spending Account, you can pay for the procedure with these funds. Otherwise, payment can be made with cash, credit or debit card.
